“What can I expect from doggy daycare?” At
It’s a Dog’s Life, we cater to your pet’s needs, allowing your dog
the ability to interact with other dogs
not only indoors, but outdoors as well. Supervised by staff members, your
pet will let off all that steam that can often times lead them into
trouble when left home alone for better parts of the day. Since most dogs tend to be destructive when they are bored, daycare will provide the necessary mental and physical stimulation, leaving you with a dog that is content to cuddle up on the couch or at your feet, rather than constantly trying to snag your attention after you’ve had a long day’s work. Tired dogs are happy dogs. Not only will it improve their behavior, but the socialization skills they will learn are crucial to a dog. It is not unusual for your pet to be “dog tired” when he or she gets home. He or she may not want to do anything but curl up and take a nap, and there have been cases where they have been too tired to eat right away. Eventually, your pet will build up the stamina, but it may take a few visits. Just like with children, play can sometimes get too rough. If a dog becomes a little too excited, or is prone to being overly rough, he or she might be put in “time-out” for five to ten minutes, simply to give him or her a breather before allowing them to play again. This will usually correct the problem; they all want to play, not be put in time-out! Any dog, however, that continues to play too roughly or in an aggressive manner may be dismissed from daycare. Other than for time-outs and puppy feedings, we are a kennel-less facility. Your dog will not be made to take a nap simply because we feel that he or she needs one; if they are tired, they will doze on their own. If your dog is a ball player that doesn’t know when to stop, rest assured that breaks are given throughout the day where the staff member will cease to throw balls or play games. Occasionally a dog may get a nick or scrape from playing. If this occurs, the dog will be treated immediately with the appropriate first-aid, which is commonly only a small amount of triple antibiotic ointment. If it needs further attention, a visit to the veterinarian will take place. In any instance where this happens, the “parent” will be notified. All dogs that become members of It’s a Dog’s Life, Inc. must be current on heartworm and flea medication, as well as all vaccinations. The parent or veterinarian must be able to provide us with proof of all shots, and all dogs must be wearing a current city license. (This is different from the rabies tag.) Any dog that becomes ill with a communicable disease while enrolled will need a note from the veterinarian giving permission to return to daycare. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask a staff member. We are sure you’ll enjoy and be satisfied with our service!
